What is Zen Like Fishing?

Experience Zen-like Fishing on the pristine rivers of Fukui, where you can try your hand at ayu fishing. Using traditional fishing methods, why not immerse yourself in the beloved pastime that captures the hearts of many in Japan? Unique to Japan, the art of using alive decoy in fishing offers an exhilarating dance with the ayu.

River and Fishing Style

Ayu establish territories and have a habit of bumping into other ayu that enter their territory to drive them out. This behavior is utilized in a fishing style called Ayu-no-Tomo-Zuri, where a hook is attached to the live decoy and allowed to swim, attracting new ayu.

How To

Tomo-Zuri takes place in shallow streams where children can safely play. Walking in the shallow waters while manipulating live ayu is not only refreshing and enjoyable but also safe. We provide guidance on appropriate attire and equipment for this style of fishing
